Monday we went to the beach for a couple of hours. The girls absolutely loved it. K had been sick for a while and wasn't getting much better. Quite frankly, I was also kind of tired of wiping the green goo coming out of her nose in the way back of the Expedition. Since I was in the middle seat, I got the honors. So while Grammy and J took K to the doctor, Triple M and I went back to the condo and showered for the day. We had lunch at the condo and headed for Honolulu to try and go to Pearl Harbor. We got there, but the tickets for the day were all sold out. So we took a couple of pictures from across the bay just in case we didn't make it back, though we all knew we would. So instead of going to Pearl Harbor, we went to the International Marketplace and stopped at The Pearl Factory. The Pearl Factory. Need I say more? All the M's and K got to pick an oyster, do the hoopla ding the bell and say "Aloha" and finally see their pearl. M1 got a black one ...

Sunday morning we got up and went to church. We went to the ward where my in-laws are assigned. Of course it is a single's ward at BYU-H and ours were the only children in sacrament meeting. No pressure for quiet. M3 had to go out once, but for the most part they did pretty well. Then we snuck them into Primary of another ward that was meeting in the same building. Because it was Sunday, the day was mostly uneventful. When we were in Relief Society, we, as visitors got to introduce ourselves. There was another lady and her daughter that were visiting from Michigan. After the meeting, J asked where they were from since she served her mission there. I had absolutely no interest in meeting these people, but went with J for fun. Come to find out, they are from Midland, Michigan. And they live in the same neighborhood I lived in when I was really young (the first time I lived there) and they knew all of the people that I remember growing up with. They know which house I live...

The only problem with staying on the North Shore is that you are in the car for what feels like forever to get anywhere. Saturday on Oahu is pretty famous, I guess, for the Swap Meet at the Aloha Stadium. On our way, we counted waterfalls on the H3. I can't even remember what we got up to. But eventually, we got there (not as early as some of us preferred) about 10am. It was hopping and we got pretty much all of our souvenir shopping done. We had some really yummy lunch in the rain (yes, it was raining again (or still, I'm not entirely sure which)) where some really nice people with an umbrella-ed table lent us a couple of umbrellas since we left ours in the car. Smart. The thing about the rain in Hawaii was that it would pour for about 10 minutes and be done for a while. Then it would pour again, then it'd be done. And it was warm the whole time! It never got cold. M1 said it was like "taking a warm shower." Perfect description. BTW, I did find anot...

J's friend said she'd give us a ride to the airport in her suburban-type vehicle and wouldn't you know, her 2 year old hid the keys the night before. So Jen got up and couldn't find her keys anywhere. Beautiful. But thanks a zillion times for being willing to cart us over there. You're awesome. We got to the airport to find that Hawaiian Airlines computers were down. So there was a huge line to check in the old fashioned way. Hand written boarding passes, the works. "Luckily" we had checked in the night before online. Not really--it didn't really do us much good because we still had to wait in the horrendous line to check all our bags and carseats. So we waited and moved and waited and moved. Then we saw a skycap checking some of the other passengers. So while J waited in the line, I headed over to the skycap, paid him a bunch of money and he checked our bags for us. Wonderful! At least now we had a few minutes to grab a muffin and some wa...

Christmas (Finally)

A picture of our beautiful tree ;-). On Christmas morning, the girls woke up at about 7:15 which is their normal wake-up-for-school time. We got presents distributed and The Father said that I overdid it again. I think he says that every year, and I do agree, but c'mon! It's Christmas! And they needed things to do on the airplane. Besides, who cares if it's just underwear? Who doesn't like to open presents? I was so excited for the girls to get their presents I could hardly stand it. M1 ended up with a Nintendo DS and more games than any kid needs. Every year Santa brings them a doll and this year, He brought matching dolls. Their hair is thick and wonderful and they have clothes you can change. I love trying to figure out whose are whose and who left them out. Clothes are never a hit, but a necessity. Especially for a kid who puts holes in the knees of every pair of jeans she has. M2 got and i-dog and an MP3 player and a mom that took more than a month to fi...
