The Burrs In Our Saddles

Yesterday after I got home from work, Madison was telling me that PBS took Word Girl off but put Electric Company in it's place. I couldn't tell if she was glad or mad, so to encourage her enthusiasm for the program, I said, "I used to watch Electric Company when I was your age." M:"In black and white?" Again, perspective, folks. Perspective. Thank you, Madison.

Tonight at the dinner table, we were having a good time teasing each other. I'm not entirely sure how it started, but it ended with this exchange: Colby: Well Mackenzie and her 1% body fat... Mackenzie: Well Dad and his 1000% body fat... Madison: No Kenzie, that's not Dad, that's Mom! Nice.

When we got home from Ogden, Colby told the girls they could have their weekly sleepover upstairs. Brilliant...Hopefully the Easter Bunny would be able to come and hide eggs and stuff! So this morning, they woke up to baskets by their beds. He left them some fun things. They've been decorating their LPS (for those of you who don't know Pet Shop-ese, that is short for Littlest Pet Shops ;-)) and playing with them all day long. They love them. Meriden was pretty upset when she didn't think she got a LPS. Hers was just too big to fit inside her basket and it was next to the basket next to the bed. Somehow she missed it and came into my room upset that she didn't "have same Ma-son haves." I told her she probably ought to go look next to her bed. Alas, the LPS was found. None of them could figure out why the Easter Bunny would come leave baskets but not hide any eggs. They looked all around upstairs: no eggs. They looked all around in the basement: no eg...

Yesterday we drove to Ogden to Maureen's house for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt. It is a ton of fun even though the most eggs I have ever found is 7. The girls getting ready for the hunt: This year Madison had to hunt with the "big kids" and she teamed up with cousin Megan. Bad idea, Sister! Together they only found 1 egg. And it was only worth 25 cents!! Maureen took pity on them and gave them 50 cents to share. I found 5 this year, but being the nice mom that I am, gave Madie 2 of my eggs. So she got a grand total of $2.25. I only got $2.00, but it's better than none, I guess. Kenzer made out with $10.40 and Meriden got $8 something. Then we drove back home for me to do all the things I was supposed to do during the day. I love late nights. Especially the next morning ;-).

In February we rented a couple of snowmobiles and went to the ranch. Colby took Madison and Mackenzie last year while I stayed home with Meriden since she was too young to have much fun (for her or me). What a fun time we had! When we first got there, we went in to the house and dropped off the groceries and our bags. Then it was off to sled. I got stuck (for the first time, not the last) on the way to the "hill" because my sled was so heavy. Anyway, we kept the girls bundled up with helmets because the "hill" was a mountain. Colby would shuttle us up to the top of the hill on the snow machine and we'd sled down because there was NO WAY we were going to be able to hike up it. Especially with the snow sleds. Kenzer went down a couple of times and then she was done, Meriden went down with myself or Colby a few times, but Madison couldn't get enough of it. I think she was up and down for hours on end. About 2 months ago (has it really been that long?!?) the 2nd graders at the school had a Drive-In movie morning. They were all supposed to decorate a car and bring it to school for the movie. They watched Milo and Otis so Madison wasn't really excited. We have that movie, so she's seen it a bunch of times. But, we decorated the car anyway just in case she decided to go after all ;-).
