FHE at Our House

For FHE on Tuesday night, (we ran out of time Monday with gymnastics from 5-7 pm then dinner) we went through our 72 hour kits. Let's just say that we put them together in the fall of 2005 and they haven't been touched since. We left the clothes out for rotation purposes, and M3 got ahold of M1s. This is what she did: Nice, huh? at least she knows where undies go, right? The Father packed M3 in the backpack intended for her 72 hour kit. Funny. The Father's observation: "M3, I'm pretty sure I've carried a backpack full of books heavier than you." Ya think?

Fruits of My Labors

After getting a smokin' deal on a bushel of peaches (at least I think it was), I decided that for the second time in my life I would attempt canning. My first experience was in 2002 about a month before M2 was born. I went to my friend Krystal's house and we canned I can't remember how many peaches. I just remember it taking a long time on 8-month-pregnant legs and feet. And when I brought all my treasured jars of peaches home, The Father wasn't exactly thrilled. Apparently he is not a huge fan of canned peaches. Not even fresh ones, really. But in all my excitement for this new skill, I came across a hot water bath, a bunch of jars for canning, and all the supplies (aka the tong things to take the jars out of the boiling water) at a garage sale. I scooped up my new treasures (for $10 or something) and took them home for my next big canning day. In 2006 I still hadn't used any of them, just moved them from one house to the next and thought, "I'm ne...

Happy Birthday M2!

I wish I could change the date on my post because then no one would know that I'm posting her Happy Birthday Post 2 days after the blessed event. Mostly because I've been ridiculously busy. No excuse, I know. So Thursday, September 18, 2008 M2 turned 6. She is so many things. Too smart for her own good, loves to sing, loves to do gymnastics. Helper extraordinaire. Queen of the Messy Room. Dress up/tea party lover; she does the English accent like she actually is English. Routine thriver. Picky eater (but she still eats it even if she doesn't like it). Home body. Reader. I mean crazy reader. Imaginative. Great friend. Sensitive. Emotional. Grateful. And absolutely adorable. The day started out with choruses of the blessed Birthday Song. Then we started getting ready for school pictures and Grammy called with a really strange space version of Happy Birthday with her name in it. We finished getting ready for picture day/school and off she went. She got a Lu...

Pics from Jackson

I promised photos. Here they are. The top of the Pass to Jackson Hole: Dad showing the girls how to skip rocks: Some white water rafters on the death defying rapids of the Snake River: Walking across some water to get to the River: Can't he just be normal? M1 M2 M3

1st Hair Cut/Preschool?!?

So M1 got her hair cut (whacked off) before school started a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if M3 wants to be just like her big sisters or what, but she wanted me to "tut" her hair too. Every time she says "tut" she slides one hand, standing it's side, across the palm of her other hand. So when we don't understand her, we can tell by her MSL (M3 Sign Language) what she is trying to say. She is so helpful. Before : After: I swear it looks cuter than this picture gives it credit for. You'll see in future pictures just how cute it really is. Plus, her hair was so many different lengths that I just had to get it all one. Now it is, just about 9" shorter. ;-) Another quick M3 thing. We were at Gymnastics on Monday with the big girls and some moms and I got talking about preschool. There is one lady that I've heard about from a lot of different people and finally got around to calling her. No, M3 is not going to start preschool now--s...

Are We There Yet?

Today we decided after spending the morning at the Vet Hospital and completely missing Stake Conference (I was really looking forward to going this time), we decided that we would take a drive. The Father has been extremely bored lately once he gets home from work (maybe he could do a load or ten of laundry--that'd give him something to do) and didn't want to just sit around. So we all piled into the car--better fuel efficiency than either truck--and headed out. We drove through Swan Valley (we saw a Bald Eagle but no swans) and past Palisades Reservoir. Neither The Father nor I had ever been that far and never realized just how large this reservoir is. 16,000 acres. It was huge. Then we turned North to go to Jackson, WY. Along Highway 191, we stopped a couple different times and watched the Snake River's small rapids. We threw rocks into the river, The Father taught Triple M how to skip rocks (though none of them had much success. In fact, M2 got whacked in the s...
