How long has it been? Too long, so I'll start now. Today is Kezer's 7th birthday. Man how time flies. She is in 2nd grade, and really likes her teacher, Mrs. Gerard. She is on the competition team at gymnastics (for now) and is so good at it that it makes me sick she wants to quit. It could change tomorrow; we'll see.
Today I feel like such a horrible mom. I had to be at work (like every Friday) and didn't have time to take a birthday treat in for her class. But we had Grammy and Granddad come down for birthday dinner (Rootbeer Pulled Pork), presents, cake, and ice cream. Her friend Mitchell (who has the exact same birthday; we always joke that they were twins separated in heaven) came over with a present of MAKEUP!! and tons of it. And candy. Tons of it. I'm going to have to talk to Mitchell's mom about that!
She and I went on Tuesday afternoon to a store that I knew Kenzer would love the second I walked in. It's called Beautiful Girl, if the name doesn't get your mind on the right track, let me just say one word: Embellishments. I hate it because it is too much. Over the top. Why would you put a young girl in a hooker shirt? And let her walk around in lingerie? Why let her be in lingerie period? And those are just a few of the things that I have going through my head. But of course, she loved it. We got her a couple of shirts because to add pants to these tops would just put me over the edge. Her pants will be the calm following the storm. Anyway, enough about Beautiful Girl.
Grammy took her to Toys R Us this afternoon while Granddad did his physical therapy after ankle surgery. So they got to spend an hour and a half at TRU. Just the two of them. Grammy is a saint is all I can say. 10 minutes in the store is enough for me. I-want-overload is all I experience at TRU. She got some (Warning: sarcasm ahead) awesome toys. A hamster that spins in circles on the tile floor (it squeaks too!), Bakugon toys (she's never played with them, seen the shows, etc.), a Barbie that has butterfly wings that turn into a skirt (one more thing for me to forget where it got "put away"), the list goes on. Thanks Grammy for taking Mackenzie to Toys R Us for 90 mintues.
She gets to have a friend birthday party tomorrow, but, like most of her birthday parties, Colby will be gone hunting. I'm sure he's sorry he's going to miss all the little girls running around making butterflies, decorating cupcakes, and seeing Tinkerbell everywhere, but he really should be sorry he's missing her party.
I love my Kenzie-Lou and am not really sure I could handle a day that she didn't glare at someone for something or cry about an insanely ridiculous thing, because that would mean she isn't sensitive and loving and just wants it to be her way. Love you, Kenzer. And Happy Birthday.
